SINOKLE Wins Contract for Oil-Contaminated Wastewater Treatment at PowerChina’s Sierra Leone Heavy Oil Power Plant
July 2024 – SINOKLE Technologies has secured the contract for the oil-contaminated wastewater treatment system (boiler feedwater) at PowerChina’s heavy oil-fired power plant in Sierra Leone. This marks another major achievement for SINOKLE in Africa, following its landmark integrated wastewater treatment project for a large oilfield in the Republic of the Congo. The project further demonstrates SINOKLE’s commitment to supporting China’s Belt and Road Initiative through advanced environmental solutions.
Located in Tonkolili, Northern Province, Sierra Leone, the power plant is equipped with five heavy oil-fired units delivering a total output of 43.65 MW. As a critical auxiliary facility for the newly constructed plant, SINOKLE’s integrated oil-contaminated wastewater treatment system will treat wastewater generated from floor cleaning in the main power plant, oil pump rooms, and oil storage areas, ensuring compliant discharge.
Technical Challenges & Innovative Solutions
The wastewater from the heavy oil power plant is characterized by high density, extreme viscosity, elevated colloidal/asphaltene content, severe emulsification, and complex treatability. To guarantee stable compliance with discharge standards, SINOKLE deployed its proprietary two-stage Cyclonic Dissolved Gas Flotation (CDFU) system, a proven solution for efficient removal of oils and suspended solids. Validated by global projects, this technology minimizes operational risks while delivering consistent performance.
