The Nemesis of Oily Wastewater — The KFM Active Filter Media Filter
I. KFM Active Filter Media Filter Introduction
The SINOKLE KFM active filter media filter is a fine filtration unit built around superhydrophilically modified active filter media. Combining physical interception with surface adsorption, it suits advanced treatment of oily, polymer-bearing and suspended-solids wastewater and is a preferred choice for oilfield reinjection water, power plant oily wastewater and similar applications. It consistently controls effluent oil content at ≤6 mg/L and suspended solids at ≤2 mg/L, with a filter media service life of 15 years and good corrosion resistance that allows long-term operation at pH 1-12. Its skid-mounted design reduces the footprint by about 30%.
II. KFM Active Filter Media Filter Process Principle
After superhydrophilic modification, the active filter media has an extremely strong affinity for water: water spreads rapidly across its surface and passes smoothly through the media pores, forming a stable hydrophilic coating film. When oily wastewater flows through the filter bed, driven by the superhydrophilic surface the aqueous phase preferentially passes through the media, while hydrophobic emulsified oil droplets are intercepted and adsorbed on the media surface and continuously enriched. Under hydraulic driving force they undergo collision coalescence and gradually form large droplets that float upward, ultimately separating from the oil phase. The modified active media surface typically has abundant micro-nano pore structures; these fine structures increase the stability of the hydrophilic film and the contact area between ultrafine emulsified oil droplets and the media, making it easier for the droplets to be intercepted, coalesced and merged into large droplets.

IV. KFM Active Filter Media Filter Outstanding Features
1) Excellent corrosion resistance
The filter's core active media is made from high-purity quartz (SiO2 content ≥99.9%), which is almost completely inert to acids and alkalis — far superior to conventional media on the market (quartz sand, silicate media, emery, anthracite, etc.).
2) Tolerance of extremely high chloride concentrations
Quartz has a covalent bond network structure and is not attacked by chloride ions, so there is no risk of pitting or stress corrosion cracking.

3) Chemical stability and low leaching risk
High-purity quartz releases no ions into any solution, so the media will not suffer pitting caused by its own insufficient chemical stability; in addition, high-purity quartz sand media is acid-washed before leaving the factory until no ions leach out.
4) Mechanical strength and service life
High-purity quartz media has high hardness (Mohs 7) and shows no aging at 80℃, giving excellent long-term operating stability.
5) High filtration precision
The micro-nano structure on the surface of the superhydrophilically modified active media forms a superhydrophilic water film that greatly improves filtration precision (removal efficiency above 99% at 1 μm). It effectively intercepts fine oil droplets and suspended particles in the water, raising filtration precision to the micron or even sub-micron level and meeting the needs of oil-water separation applications with demanding water quality requirements, such as extract phase separation in the new energy industry and emulsified oil separation in oilfield and refining operations. KFM active media performs final fine filtration to ensure effluent oil content ≤5 mg/L and meet stringent reinjection standards.

6) Corrosion resistance and strong adaptability
The main equipment body uses carbon steel with internal anti-corrosion treatment, while core equipment and wetted parts use high-grade materials such as 316L or better. This provides outstanding resistance to highly corrosive conditions with high chloride and high salinity, ensuring long-term stable system operation.
7) High recovery value and economical operation
The process is based on purely physical separation, so the recovered waste oil has low moisture content and high quality and can be reused directly. The system is highly automated with low energy and maintenance costs, delivering significant overall benefits.
8) Modular, skid-mounted and rapidly deployable
The unit is integrated and skid-mounted with a compact structure that is easy to transport and install on site. It is especially suited to oilfield sites with limited space and to expansion needs, greatly shortening the construction cycle.
