Advanced Treatment of Coal Chemical External Discharge Water
1. What Is Coal Chemical External Discharge Water?
Coal chemical external discharge water refers to the wastewater generated in coal chemical production that, after treatment by the enterprise's internal treatment facilities, is finally discharged into the external environment (such as rivers and lakes). This wastewater mainly originates from coal gasification, coal liquefaction, coking and other processes, and contains a variety of toxic and hazardous substances that pose a serious threat to the environment and ecology. Effectively treating this discharge water is therefore a key link in the sustainable development of coal chemical enterprises.
2. Characteristics, Main Pollutants and Treatment Difficulties
Coal chemical discharge water is characterized by complex composition, high pollutant concentrations and poor biodegradability. Its main pollutants include phenols, cyanides, oils, ammonia nitrogen and various organic and inorganic compounds. Phenols and ammonia nitrogen are typical pollutants in coal chemical wastewater: they are both highly concentrated and difficult to remove effectively by conventional biochemical treatment. In addition, the wastewater contains large amounts of refractory organics such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic compounds, whose presence further increases the treatment difficulty.
The main difficulties in treating coal chemical discharge water are: first, the many pollutant types and high concentrations require a combination of multiple treatment technologies; second, the presence of refractory organics limits the effectiveness of biochemical treatment, so advanced oxidation and other advanced treatment technologies must be introduced; third, the sludge and solid waste generated during treatment must also be properly disposed of to avoid secondary pollution.
3. SINOKLE's CDOF Ozone Advanced Oxidation Process for Coal Chemical Discharge Water
To tackle the treatment challenges of coal chemical discharge water, SINOKLE Technology has developed the CDOF ozone advanced oxidation process, providing an efficient and environmentally friendly solution for coal chemical wastewater treatment.

After coagulant and flocculant are added for preliminary coagulation and sedimentation to remove part of the oil and suspended solids, the wastewater enters the CDOF ozone advanced oxidation–flotation integrated unit for advanced treatment, where the vast majority of oils, suspended solids, COD and other pollutants are removed. Once the effluent meets the discharge standard, it can be discharged externally.
CDOF (Cyclonic Dissolved Ozone Flotation unit) is a patented technology of SINOKLE Technology that integrates multi-stage ozone catalytic oxidation, hydrodynamic cavitation and cyclonic flotation into an internationally leading integrated oxidation-flotation device. It can rapidly remove petroleum oils, suspended solids, colloids, COD, bacteria and many other pollutants from wastewater.

4. Advantages of the New Process
When treating coal chemical discharge water, the CDOF ozone advanced oxidation process offers the following significant advantages:
Efficient removal of refractory organics: through multi-stage ozone catalytic oxidation, CDOF degrades organic pollutants in the wastewater non-selectively into carbon dioxide and water, with remarkable results on refractory organics such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic compounds.
Improved biodegradability: the HO· radicals generated during ozone oxidation break the molecular structure of organics, making them easier for microorganisms to degrade, thereby improving the biodegradability of the wastewater and creating favorable conditions for subsequent biochemical treatment.
Reduced sludge production: because the CDOF process effectively removes organics from the wastewater, the amount of sludge produced in biochemical treatment decreases, lowering sludge disposal costs.
Stable and reliable operation: the CDOF unit adopts an advanced automatic control system enabling stable operation and remote monitoring, reducing manual intervention and improving treatment efficiency.
In summary, SINOKLE's CDOF ozone advanced oxidation process provides an efficient and environmentally friendly solution for coal chemical discharge water treatment, helping coal chemical enterprises achieve compliant discharge and resource recycling of wastewater.
