Power Plant Wastewater Treatment: SINOKLE Innovation Supports Green Energy Development
Power Plant Wastewater Treatment: SINOKLE Innovation Supports Green Energy Development
With the rapid development of China's power industry, treating the oily wastewater generated during power plant operation has become an important environmental task. Power plant wastewater is complex, containing heavy oil, light oil, suspended solids and other pollutants, and conventional processes struggle to meet increasingly strict discharge requirements. With its innovative CDFU cyclonic dissolved-air flotation technology and a series of high-efficiency units, SINOKLE Technology provides a completely new solution for power plant wastewater treatment.

Characteristics of power plant wastewater and treatment challenges
Power plant wastewater comes mainly from heavy-oil tank farms, light-oil tank farms and coal-washing processes, and is characterised by high oil concentration, complex pollutant composition and large water-quality fluctuations. Heavy-oil tank farm wastewater can contain up to 500,000 ppm of oil, while light-oil tank farm wastewater typically contains around 50 mg/L. Such wastewater is difficult to treat and, if discharged directly, seriously harms the aquatic environment.
CDFU Technical innovation breakthrough
Developed by SINOKLE, the CDFU (cyclonic dissolved-air flotation) technology creatively combines cyclonic separation, dissolved-air flotation and catalytic oxidation. By generating micro/nano bubbles without any chemical dosing, it achieves efficient oil-water separation under strong centrifugal force; a single unit can handle up to 500 m³/h with oil removal above 90%.
Its core technical advantages are threefold: super-oleophilic hydrophobic coalescing fibre materials integrating cyclonic centrifugal separation, wetting coalescence and collision coalescence; specially designed coalescing media that efficiently remove emulsified oil droplets larger than 0.1 μm; and a purely physical separation process with no chemicals that avoids secondary pollution.
Successful cases demonstrate outstanding results
In a back-pressure cogeneration project in Shaanxi Province, a "filter + KHC coalescing oil separator" combination process was used to treat high-oil power plant wastewater, ultimately reducing the effluent oil content to below 5 ppm, a removal rate of over 99%.

Oily wastewater treatment unit at the Sierra Leone heavy-oil power plant (two-stage CDFU cyclonic dissolved-air flotation + KFM filter)
The heavy-oil power plant wastewater treatment project in Sierra Leone adopts a "CDFU+CDFU+KFM" three-stage treatment process; the influent oil content is <50 mg/L and suspended solids <80 mg/L, and after treatment the effluent oil content is <10 mg/L and suspended solids <20 mg/L, with all indicators meeting discharge standards.
The waste incineration power plant project in Shiyan, Hubei Province, uses a CDOF integrated unit to treat landfill leachate, with an influent COD of ≤1,300 mg/L; after treatment the COD is ≤400 mg/L and colour ≤30, and subsequent biological treatment brings the effluent to Class III surface water standards of COD ≤20 mg/L and ammonia nitrogen ≤1 mg/L.
Intelligent operation and economic benefits
SINOKLE's power plant wastewater treatment system uses DCS/PLC fully automatic control for precise ozone dosing, reaction level and pressure monitoring.
The AI real-time monitoring system supports unattended operation, greatly reducing labour costs.
Compared with conventional processes, operating costs are 20%-30% lower and the footprint is reduced to one third.
The equipment is skid-mounted for rapid deployment, with a hydraulic retention time of only 1-5 minutes and energy consumption more than 30% lower than conventional processes.
Broad prospects for future development
As environmental policies continue to tighten and the power industry's need for green transformation grows, SINOKLE's innovative technology will play a greater role in power plant wastewater treatment. Its efficiency, stability and environmental friendliness provide reliable technical support for sustainable development of the power industry and are expected to set a technical benchmark in this field.
SINOKLE will continue to deepen technological innovation and optimise product performance, providing more efficient and more economical wastewater treatment solutions for the global power industry and helping achieve the dual goals of green energy development and environmental protection.
