Application of KFM Filters in Power Plant Wastewater Treatment
The KFM filter delivers outstanding technical advantages in power plant wastewater treatment, especially for oily wastewater. The technology uses atomic layer deposition (ALD) modified active filter media and achieves high-efficiency purification through three mechanisms: a super-hydrophilic nanostructure, negative-charge adsorption and physical interception.

Core technical features
· Ultra-high filtration precision: minimum filtration rating of 1 micron; over 95% interception of 1-micron suspended solids; effluent oil down to ≤5mg/L and suspended solids ≤2mg/L
· Long service life: the media is highly wear resistant, with a normal service life of up to 15 years, annual top-up of only 5% and a wear rate as low as 0.07‰
· Intelligent operation control: a fully automatic PLC system performs intelligent backwashing, restoring 100% filtration performance in 5-10 minutes and cutting backwash water by 70%
Field application case
At a heavy fuel oil power plant in Sierra Leone, the wastewater train uses two-stage CDFU+KFM filter media filtration at a capacity of 120m³/d. With feed oil content ≤2000mg/L, the treated effluent stays at ≤5mg/L oil with markedly lower suspended solids. The system is skid-mounted and compact, ideal for space-constrained power plants.

Process advantage comparison
Compared with conventional media, KFM active filter media offers clear advantages:
· Negatively charged surface with self-sterilising function, effectively preventing media agglomeration
· Backwash intensity of only 12-15 L/(s·m²), lower than anthracite and emery media
· Filtration precision meeting SY5329 Class II, far better than the Class III of conventional media
Through modular design and an intelligent control system, the KFM filter provides an efficient, stable solution for oily wastewater at power plants, and its strong performance and low operating cost make it the preferred technology in this field.
