Technology in depth

As the core material of advanced oxidation technology, ozone catalysts play a key role in the treatment of all kinds of hard-to-handle industrial wastewater. Through years of technology R&D, SINOKLE has successfully developed a series of high-efficiency ozone catalysts with independent intellectual property rights, providing an innovative solution for industrial wastewater treatment.

Technical principles and material innovation

SINOKLE ozone catalysts adopt a unique heterogeneous catalytic system, using modified activated alumina as the carrier and achieving efficient oxidation through a multi-metal synergistic catalytic mechanism. The active components include copper, manganese, cobalt and other rare-earth elements, and precious metal components are innovatively introduced to form multi-active-site synergy. This design gives the catalyst excellent electron transfer capability, which can significantly reduce the activation energy of ozone decomposition and increase the yield of hydroxyl radicals.

In terms of material structure, SINOKLE adopts high-porosity microporous forming technology, bringing the specific surface area of the catalyst to 250–300 m²/g, far above the 50–100 m²/g level of similar products on the market. This porous structure provides sufficient contact interface for reactants and greatly improves catalytic efficiency. At the same time, super-hydrophilic modification is carried out through atomic deposition technology, so that the surface contact angle of the catalyst is ≤10°, effectively preventing fouling and plugging and ensuring stable long-term operation.

Performance advantages and technical features

SINOKLE ozone catalysts have a number of notable advantages: mechanical strength as high as 150 N per granule, an annual wear rate of only 0.13%, and a service life of more than 5 years. In terms of acid and alkali tolerance, stable activity can be maintained under strongly acidic conditions of pH ≤3 and strongly alkaline conditions of pH ≥12, adapting to various complex water quality conditions.

In terms of catalytic performance, the absolute COD removal per unit of ozone reaches 1.1–1.5 gO₃/gCOD, and the ozone utilisation rate is more than 20% higher than that of conventional technology. This is mainly due to the multi-metal synergistic effect: different metal components significantly improve catalytic activity and selectivity through electronic interaction and geometric effects. The introduction of precious metals in particular optimises the configuration of active sites through electronic and geometric effects and enhances the anti-poisoning capability of the catalyst.

Innovation in manufacturing processes

SINOKLE has achieved a major breakthrough in catalyst manufacturing processes by adopting multi-stage precisely controlled temperature sintering technology, optimising the microstructure of the catalyst through precise control of sintering temperature. This technology ensures a uniform distribution of active components and forms a stable crystal structure while avoiding pore collapse caused by over-sintering.

In pore-forming technology, water-soluble porogens and a sacrificial metal template pore-forming method are innovatively adopted, with pore size distribution precisely controlled by adjusting the porogen type and concentration. This process enables the catalyst to maintain a high specific surface area while offering good mechanical strength, resolving the contradiction between strength and specific surface area in conventional catalysts.

Application scenarios and engineering practice

In the field of oily wastewater treatment, SINOKLE ozone catalysts demonstrate outstanding performance.

Landfill leachate treatment is another important application scenario. A landfill site in Fuzhou used SINOKLE technology to treat mature leachate with an influent COD of about 3,000 mg/L, which dropped to below 200 mg/L after 30 minutes of treatment, with significantly improved biodegradability. Especially in high-salinity wastewater treatment, the influent salinity of the Zhangzhou project was above 30,000 mg/L, which conventional biological methods cannot treat, while SINOKLE technology brought effluent COD below 60 mg/L and colour down to below 5.

Pharmaceutical wastewater treatment has also achieved notable results. The wastewater COD concentration of a pharmaceutical enterprise in Inner Mongolia was as high as several thousand mg/L; after 45 minutes of treatment with the SINOKLE ozone catalytic oxidation process, the effluent COD dropped below 200 mg/L and the B/C ratio rose from 0.1 to 0.37, providing an effective solution for high-concentration pharmaceutical wastewater treatment.

Value of the technological innovation

Through innovations in multi-metal synergistic catalysis, super-hydrophilic modification and precision pore forming, SINOKLE ozone catalyst technology has successfully solved the problems of low utilisation rate, modest treatment efficiency, high operating cost and incomplete organic degradation that exist in conventional ozone oxidation technology. The technology has obtained a number of international and national patent authorisations.

Future development prospects

As environmental protection requirements become increasingly strict, SINOKLE ozone catalyst technology has broad application prospects in the water treatment field. Its modular design adapts to the needs of projects of different scales, and the intelligent control system enables precise operational regulation, providing an efficient, economical and reliable technical path for industrial wastewater treatment.

In the future, SINOKLE will continue to deepen research on catalyst materials, optimise manufacturing processes and expand application fields, contributing more innovative solutions to global water environment protection. This technology not only solves the current technical bottlenecks of industrial wastewater treatment but also sets a new technical benchmark for the sustainable development of the industry.
