In the operation of a thermal power plant, the oily wastewater generated in light-oil depot areas is a key and difficult target of environmental management. This wastewater mainly originates from fuel-oil tank cleaning, leakage flushing of oil pumps and pipelines, and similar operations. It contains fuel-oil residue, lubricating oil and other pollutants, and is characterized by severe emulsification, small oil-droplet diameter and complex composition.

Challenges Facing Conventional Treatment Technology

The conventional process of “oil separation tank + flotation tank + filtration” has obvious limitations: it cannot effectively remove emulsified oil droplets, has poor shock-load resistance and insufficient effluent stability, and requires a large footprint with high operating costs. Especially for wastewater in which oil and water have similar densities, gravity separation alone can hardly meet current environmental standards.

SINOKLE’s Innovative Solution

Targeting the characteristics of light-oil depot wastewater, SINOKLE Technology has developed a technical solution centered on a “pre-filter + KHC coalescing oil-water separator”. Based on a purely physical demulsification and separation principle, the solution adopts special coalescing fiber materials and optimized internals design to achieve highly efficient oil-water separation.

Process flow: the wastewater first enters a collection tank, then the pre-filter for preliminary treatment, and subsequently the KHC high-efficiency coalescing oil remover. Inside the coalescer, super-oleophilic and hydrophobic materials rapidly coalesce and separate the oil droplets; the treated effluent can be discharged up to standard or sent to downstream treatment units.

Outstanding Technical Advantages

The solution offers multiple advantages: purely physical demulsification without any chemical dosing avoids secondary pollution at the source; the oil removal efficiency reaches over 95% and can handle emulsified oil with droplet diameters above 0.1 μm; fully automated closed operation keeps safety and environmental risks low; and the skid-mounted design occupies only about 1/5 of the footprint of conventional processes.

Verified by Real-World Application

A light-oil depot wastewater treatment project at a combined heat and power plant in Shaanxi Province went into operation in September 2022, with a treatment capacity of 120 m³/d. Using the pre-filter + KHC coalescing oil-water separator process, with an influent oil content of 200 mg/L and suspended solids of 100 mg/L, the effluent oil content dropped below 5 mg/L and suspended solids to ≤5 mg/L, an oil removal rate of more than 97%.

SINOKLE

The project occupies only 2.6 m × 1.5 m × 2 m, demonstrating the advantage of the compact design. The equipment runs stably with strong shock-load resistance, maintaining stable and compliant effluent quality even under large influent fluctuations, providing a reliable guarantee for the environmentally compliant operation of the power plant.

Future Prospects

As environmental requirements become increasingly stringent, SINOKLE’s light-oil depot oily wastewater treatment solution, with its high efficiency, stability and environmental friendliness, has broad application prospects in the power industry. It not only meets current discharge standards but also provides technical support for the green transformation and sustainable development of thermal power plants. Through continuous technical innovation and engineering optimization, the solution is expected to further reduce costs and improve efficiency, offering more power enterprises an economical and reliable choice for oily wastewater treatment.
