Against the backdrop of rapid industrial development, industrial wastewater has become increasingly complex, with prominent problems of refractory organics, high salinity and high organic loading, while conventional treatment processes face low mass transfer efficiency, incomplete pollutant removal and high energy consumption.

The ultra-fine nano-bubble generation technology developed by SINOKLE, as a new and efficient auxiliary water treatment technology, demonstrates significant advantages in wastewater treatment processes thanks to its unique physicochemical properties, offering an efficient solution for advanced industrial wastewater treatment. By generating tiny bubbles with diameters at the micron or even nanometre scale, the technology achieves breakthroughs in mass transfer efficiency, enhanced pollutant degradation and expanded process adaptability, effectively overcoming the technical bottlenecks of conventional wastewater treatment.

1. Core technical advantages: the unique properties of ultra-fine nano-bubbles

Compared with conventional bubbles, ultra-fine nano-bubbles have significant physicochemical advantages that lay the foundation for upgrading wastewater treatment processes:

1. Extremely high specific surface area: ultra-fine nano-bubbles are small in diameter and dense in number, with a specific surface area per unit volume far exceeding that of conventional bubbles, greatly increasing the gas-liquid contact area and providing ample interfacial conditions for reactions between pollutants and oxidants or microorganisms.

2. Exceptionally strong mass transfer efficiency: bubbles rise slowly and stay for a long time, and their self-shrinking property allows continuous release of dissolved oxygen or other gases into the water, greatly increasing gas solubility and solving the core problem of low gas-liquid mass transfer efficiency in conventional processes.

3. Stable lifespan: influenced by surface charge, ultra-fine nano-bubbles resist coalescence and can remain stable in water for hours or even longer, ensuring continuous and adequate reaction.

4. In-situ generation of reactive species: during collapse, ultra-fine nano-bubbles create local high-temperature, high-pressure conditions that trigger water molecule cleavage and generate strongly oxidising reactive species such as hydroxyl radicals, which can directly oxidise and decompose refractory organics, strengthening pollutant removal.

2. Multidimensional positive effects on wastewater treatment processes

For refractory organic wastewater from pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, printing and dyeing and other industries, ultra-fine nano-bubble generation technology can strengthen treatment through a dual mechanism:

On one hand, ample dissolved oxygen provides favourable conditions for advanced oxidation processes such as ozonation, raising oxidant utilisation and promoting the generation and transfer of reactive species such as hydroxyl radicals, accelerating the oxidative decomposition of refractory pollutants such as benzene series, antibiotics and chlorinated organics;

on the other hand, the strong oxidising power of ultra-fine nano-bubbles can directly attack the key structures of pollutants, avoiding the increased toxicity caused by accumulation of intermediates.

The high-salinity environment of industrial wastewater (for example reverse osmosis concentrate, with TDS reaching 58,000 mg/L or more) often suppresses the effectiveness of conventional processes, whereas ultra-fine nano-bubble technology has exceptionally strong water-quality adaptability: for high-salinity wastewater, the reactive species generated by ultra-fine nano-bubbles can effectively decompose chlorinated organics while avoiding the inhibition of catalysts or microorganisms by salt ions typical of conventional processes, maintaining stable treatment performance even after several days of continuous operation with activity decay far lower than conventional processes.

For high organic loading wastewater (for example ethylene wastewater from petrochemical plants, COD 1500-2000 mg/L), the efficient mass transfer of ultra-fine nano-bubbles quickly supplies sufficient oxygen or oxidant to the reaction system, raising COD removal. Compared with conventional processes, introducing this technology raises COD removal from 42% to 83% and benzene series removal from 51% to 95%, greatly reducing pollutant loading.

Conventional wastewater treatment processes (such as ozonation) suffer from high power consumption per tonne of water and large oxidant consumption, whereas ultra-fine nano-bubble technology achieves both lower energy and lower chemical consumption by optimising mass transfer efficiency. Ultra-fine nano-bubbles can significantly raise the utilisation of oxidants such as ozone, increasing ozone utilisation from below 60% in conventional processes to above 95% and cutting oxidant consumption by more than 40%. Their efficient oxygen dissolution capacity reduces the operating load of aeration equipment and power consumption while lowering chemical dosing, greatly reducing wastewater treatment operating costs and improving process economic feasibility.

In addition, ultra-fine nano-bubble technology does not rely on complex catalyst or microbial systems, is little affected by water quality fluctuations, and produces no secondary pollution such as metal leaching, meeting the heavy metal discharge standard GB 8978-1996. It also reduces pollutant adhesion and scaling inside reactors, lowering equipment maintenance frequency and extending process operating cycles; compared with conventional processes, operational stability is markedly improved and service life can be extended beyond 5 years (industry average 2-3 years).
