A New Approach to Upgrading Flotation Systems in Wastewater Treatment Plants
Rapid urbanisation keeps pushing up industrial and domestic wastewater volumes, and treatment plants are carrying an ever heavier load. In practice, conventional flotation often hits efficiency limits: bubbles are too large, performance fluctuates noticeably, chemical dosing is high, energy consumption is considerable, and large amounts of sludge raise the cost of downstream solid waste disposal. Systematic technical upgrading, introducing advanced processes and equipment such as micro/nano-bubble flotation, can effectively raise performance while saving energy and controlling operating costs.
To meet the pressing need to improve the flotation unit at wastewater treatment plants, we offer a process upgrade built around CDFU cyclonic dissolved gas flotation technology as the core. Using two CDFU units in tandem, the solution needs only a small chemical dose to separate oil and water and remove suspended solids efficiently, keeping effluent reliably within limits. It sets out to raise treatment efficiency across the board with advanced flotation processes and equipment, cut energy and material consumption and lower operation and maintenance costs, so plants can keep pace with growing volumes and tightening standards.

CDFU cyclonic dissolved gas flotation technology, the core of this upgrade, offers several outstanding advantages.
First, the first-stage CDFU uses a purely physical demulsification and separation mechanism. Operation is stable and reliable and oil removal efficiency high, and the recovered oil can be reused as a resource, avoiding environmental pollution and solving the disposal problem of oily sludge as hazardous waste, with considerable economic benefit.
Second, the second-stage CDFU achieves excellent oil and suspended solids removal with only a small dose of polyaluminium chloride (PAC). Chemical use falls markedly, scum volume drops by more than a third, the amount of oily sludge (hazardous waste) generated is reduced and downstream disposal costs are saved.

The technology also excels in environmental protection and safety. The system runs enclosed and pressurised, which effectively prevents the escape of hydrogen sulphide and other gases and keeps the working environment safe and pleasant. Hydraulic retention time per stage is under 5 minutes, the footprint is compact, automation is high, maintenance is simple and construction is quick, with online retrofits possible: all of which markedly improve operating efficiency and management at the plant.
In addition, the CDFU cyclonic dissolved gas flotation system delivers excellent shock resistance and operating stability. Even when influent quality varies widely, treatment performance stays stable and reliable, giving the system greater adaptability and operating flexibility when facing complex, changing wastewater quality.
