In oily wastewater treatment processes, the stable presence of micron-scale emulsified oil droplets is the core problem restricting pretreatment efficiency. Traditional gravity settling and flotation processes have limited removal capability for oil droplets smaller than 20 μm, while chemical demulsification methods often face high operating costs and secondary-pollution risks.

KHC coalescing oil separator structure

To address this technical bottleneck, SINOKLE launched the KHC high-efficiency coalescing oil separator, which adopts a pure-physical coalescing separation mechanism and aims to provide an efficient, stable advanced deoiling solution for the petrochemical, refining, oilfield and chemical industries.

Technical Principle: Super-Hydrophilic Coalescence and Flow-Field Optimization

The core of the KHC high-efficiency coalescing oil separator lies in the combination of its patented composite coalescing material and hydrodynamic design. The equipment uses specially designed patented coalescing packing and a coalescing core, and applies atomic-layer-deposition technology to modify the material surface to be super-hydrophilic, forming a stable super-hydrophilic layer (water contact angle <10°), increasing its resistance to organic adhesion by 90%. In water, this modified material preferentially combines with water, forcing tiny oil droplets to be captured, collide and coalesce into large oil beads as they pass through the fibrous medium.

The internal structure of the equipment has been optimized through CFD flow-field simulation to maintain a stable laminar-flow state, avoiding short-circuit flow and circulating flow, and reasonably arranging the oil-water interface to ensure rapid oil-water separation. Through special fiber materials and structural design, it achieves efficient interception of emulsified oil droplets above 0.1 μm, with significant coalescing effect.

Performance Parameters and Operating Advantages

The KHC high-efficiency coalescing oil separator achieves a balance between treatment efficiency and operating economy. The equipment's influent oil-tolerance range is 50–2000 mg/L; it can withstand short-term high-concentration shocks, and the effluent oil concentration is stably controlled below 10 mg/L (excluding dissolved oil). Compared with traditional processes, it has large treatment capacity and small footprint; the high cross-sectional flow velocity gives a single unit a treatment capacity of 10 m³/h, 3–5 times that of comparable products.

KHC separator performance and application

In terms of operating cost, the equipment shows significant low-consumption characteristics. Because it uses pure-physical separation, the whole process requires no demulsifier or flocculant dosing, eliminating the generation and disposal costs of chemical sludge; the system pressure drop is less than 0.05 MPa, with low operating energy consumption; the filter-element life is 2–5 times that of traditional coalescing cores, reducing replacement frequency and lowering long-term O&M costs.

Engineering Application and Adaptability

To address the differences in working conditions across industries, the KHC series offers a product system combining standardization and customization. Standard modules cover specifications from 10 m³/h to 1000 m³/h, meeting wastewater-treatment needs from workshop level to park level. For special environments, the equipment can be configured as anti-corrosion type (acid-resistant wastewater), high-temperature type (withstands 120°C), explosion-proof type (Ex d IIBT4) and mobile skid-mounted structure.

In actual engineering cases, the KHC high-efficiency coalescing oil separator has verified its technical reliability. In a treatment application case of oily electric-desalting cut water at a certain petrochemical enterprise, the equipment, as a pretreatment unit, effectively reduced the influent oil concentration to below 50 mg/L, and the separated waste oil was of good quality and had recovery value.

Conclusion

The efficiency of the pretreatment unit directly determines the success or failure of the entire wastewater treatment system.

Through the in-depth application of physical coalescing technology, the KHC high-efficiency coalescing oil separator solves the pain points of oily emulsified wastewater — difficult separation, high cost and instability. Its compact structural design and fully automatic control mode make it a reliable technical equipment for industrial enterprises to achieve water-resource reuse and green production.
